Yemeni Government: Houthi Involvement in War in Defense of the Iranian Regime is a Hostile Act

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni government described the Houthi group’s joining of the fronts in defense of the Iranian regime as an “illegitimate hostile act,” warning against the hijacking of the decision for war and peace in favor of Tehran’s expansionist agendas, which aim to undermine the national state and turn its territories into platforms for international blackmail.
The government affirmed its absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the Iranian regime’s policies of dragging Yemen into its futile wars through its “terrorist militias,” noting that this aims to undermine national states, usurp their sovereign decision-making, turn their lands into platforms for blackmail, and threaten international peace and security.
In a statement, it said that Iran is today reproducing the disastrous model seen in other countries in the region by mobilizing outlaw armed groups, seizing the decision of war and peace, and involving their homelands in destructive confrontations in service of the Iranian regime’s agenda.
The government statement stated that the Houthi group is joining the war alongside Iran in an attempt to alleviate pressure on the regime, affirming that it will not hesitate to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting civilians and to take all necessary measures to prevent its territories from being used as a platform to threaten regional and international security.
The government called on citizens in Houthi-controlled areas to reject these destructive policies and not to be drawn into mobilization and recruitment campaigns aimed at turning their sons into fuel for others’ wars or using them as human shields in battles that do not serve Yemen’s interests, its people, or its future.
It also renewed its call to the international community to take a firm stance against Iran’s repeated violations of Yemeni sovereignty, to exert maximum pressure on the terrorist Houthi militias, and to support the government’s efforts to restore its institutions, extend its authority over the entire national territory, and achieve the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, peace, and development.
Earlier this morning, the Houthi group announced targeting southern Israel with a volley of ballistic missiles, marking an official involvement in the battle being waged by Iran and its proxies against the United States and the occupation.
