Yemeni Presidential Council Member Calls for Course Correction and Adoption of Internal Bylaws for Council’s Duties

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Special Report:

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani on Tuesday called for correcting the Council’s course and adopting internal bylaws to regulate its functions, warning that the current situation has created a vacuum “managed by hidden forces” according to their own interests.

Al-Bahsani’s remarks come just days after fellow council member and Southern Transitional Council (STC) leader Aidarous Al-Zubaidi—backed by the UAE—issued presidential decrees appointing more than 11 individuals to government posts, in what was described as a coup against the constitution, the law, and political consensus. Al-Bahsani himself is also a senior STC figure.

In a post on Platform X, Al-Bahsani noted that adopting working bylaws should have been an urgent priority since the Council’s establishment. However, “a clear evasion of involving all members” has delayed this step, negatively affecting the Council’s performance.

He explained that the absence of internal regulations and task distribution has turned provinces that were once “models in administration and military performance” into centers of corruption and lawlessness.

According to Al-Bahsani, the responsibility now lies with the Coalition, the Council’s leadership, and political forces, stressing the need for a courageous reassessment to correct the course.

Al-Bahsani underscored the necessity of adopting clear bylaws binding all members to defined roles and powers, pointing out that “it is illogical for liberated provinces to be governed from a center detached from their reality.”

He emphasized that listening to public sentiment is no longer optional but a duty, and that giving each member a direct mandate and specific responsibility is the only way to improve performance and restore trust. He concluded with a warning that history “will not forgive those who neglect their national duty.”
