Intelligence Officer Assassinated in Hadramawt, Eastern Yemen

A Yemeni military intelligence officer, Lafi Ahmed Salem bin Jaafar Al-Amiri, was killed on Wednesday evening after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Wadi Hadramawt, eastern Yemen.
Local sources said that armed assailants opened fire on Al-Amiri near his home in the Tarbah area, east of Seiyun, killing him instantly before fleeing to an unknown destination.
The sources added that the incident was followed by a security alert and the widespread deployment of security forces throughout the area. Checkpoints were established, and search and investigation measures were intensified, with the participation of security agencies and Nation Shield Forces.
Security authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the circumstances of the attack, amid warnings of a possible increase in targeted assassinations in the region.
