Qatar Sees No Attacks for Fourth Day: Did Doha Obtain an “Eid Truce” or a Belated Neutralization?

Yemen Monitor / Monitoring Unit / Special:

Iranian attacks on Qatar have ceased since the last bombardment in the early hours of Thursday, corresponding to the 30th of Ramadan. The Qatari Ministry of Defense has not announced any interceptions or missile and drone attacks over the past four days, which coincided with the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

This pause has raised questions among analysts, especially in the absence of any official statements from either side, as to whether Doha has obtained an undeclared truce on the occasion of Eid, or whether there is an Iranian inclination to neutralize Qatar and activate negotiations under Qatari-Turkish mediation with the US and Israel.

The halt in attacks on Qatar came as operations continued on a daily basis—even during the Eid days—targeting Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, and Kuwait.

Qatar had maintained strong relations with Tehran before the war launched by the US and Israel on Iran, yet it came under continuous attacks over 19 days of conflict. According to the Qatari Ministry of Defense, the last of those attacks targeted the Ras Laffan industrial city in the early hours of last Thursday, causing material damage.

Qatari cities have experienced calm over the past four days, with the Ministry of Interior emphasizing the importance of adhering to instructions from relevant authorities to enhance safe behavior and institutional discipline at workplaces.

In the educational context, the Qatari Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the gradual resumption of in-person studies in various educational institutions starting tomorrow, Tuesday, following a suspension that began on February 28 of last year with the outbreak of the war.

On another note, the Qatari Ministry of Defense mourned on Sunday four Qatari soldiers who were killed after a helicopter crashed due to a technical malfunction “while performing a routine duty,” causing it to fall into the state’s territorial waters. A defense statement explained that the helicopter’s crew included a Turkish officer and two other Turkish civilians.
