In His Farewell Meeting, U.S. Ambassador Reaffirms Washington’s Continued Support for Yemen

A meeting between U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin and Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member and Hadramawt Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi carried a number of parting messages as the ambassador’s diplomatic mission in Yemen drew to a close. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments in the country.
The discussions focused on the challenges facing the Yemeni government and ways to support stability and improve living conditions, as well as strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides in the coming period.
Al-Khanbashi stressed the importance of continued international support for Yemen and assistance to state institutions in a way that enhances stability and advances peace efforts. He also emphasized the need to unify regional and international efforts to address the country’s current challenges.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of protecting maritime routes and ensuring the security of international navigation amid ongoing regional tensions.
For his part, Ambassador Fagin expressed his appreciation for the cooperation he received during his tenure in Yemen and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to continuing coordination with Yemen’s leadership to support stability efforts and address the country’s humanitarian and economic challenges.
