Saudi Demining Project in Yemen Announces Removal of 1,329 Mines in a Week

“MASAM” project, affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, announced the removal of 1,329 mines during the third week of March in various areas of Yemen.
The project explained in a statement that the dismantled mines included 6 anti-personnel mines, 200 anti-tank mines, in addition to 1,116 unexploded ordnance, and 7 improvised explosive devices, which were extracted from the governorates of Aden, Hadramawt, and Taiz.
It pointed out that the total number of mines removed since the beginning of March has risen to 3,500, while the total number of mines dismantled since the project’s launch has exceeded 549,000 mines.
The project aims to clear Yemeni lands of randomly planted mines, which pose a continuous threat to civilians’ lives and hinder the movement of residents and daily activities in affected areas.
