Yemeni Government Directs Raising Readiness To Face Wave Of Rainfall

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Minister of Public Works and Roads in the Yemeni government, Hussein Al-Aqrabi, today directed the ministry’s affiliated bodies in the liberated governorates to raise their level of preparedness to confront the wave of rainfall affecting several areas, as part of efforts to reduce potential damage.

The directives included the ministry’s offices, as well as the Road Maintenance Fund and the Public Corporation for Roads and Bridges, with an emphasis on taking urgent precautionary measures to deal with the consequences of rain and floods.

This step came based on instructions from Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani, as part of the government’s efforts to enhance field response and reduce losses caused by weather fluctuations.

Al-Aqrabi called for intensifying emergency maintenance work, cleaning water drainage channels, and addressing any damage that may affect infrastructure, in order to ensure the continuity of traffic movement and the safety of road users.

He also stressed the importance of coordination with local authorities and relevant entities, swift handling of emergency situations, and the submission of regular reports on the level of readiness and implemented measures.

The minister noted that the ministry is continuously monitoring weather developments and working to mobilize its resources to ensure the continuity of services and the safety of the road network in affected areas.

This comes in conjunction with warnings from the National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning of expected thunderstorms of varying intensity across several Yemeni governorates over the next 24 hours, along with warnings of rough seas and strong winds in coastal areas.
