Tried to Escape Disguised to Houthi Territory: Ma’rib Police Arrest Suspect Wanted for “Foreigner” Kidnapping

Ma’rib Governorate Police (eastern Yemen) announced on Saturday that they apprehended three wanted individuals within 24 hours, including a person convicted in the kidnapping of a “foreigner” who attempted to escape by disguising himself to flee into Houthi-controlled areas.

Ma’rib police explained that they arrested “S.A.Sh.Y.” while he was attempting to escape to Houthi-held territory, disguised inside a taxi. They noted that the detainee is convicted in a case involving the kidnapping of a foreigner and is the subject of a judicial arrest warrant issued by the Specialized Criminal Prosecution in Hadramawt Governorate, though they did not provide further details regarding the kidnapping.

In a related context, Ma’rib police revealed that they successfully apprehended another wanted individual, “A.M.H.Q.,” who is subject to judicial warrants on charges of inciting chaos and disturbing public security and peace in Ma’rib Governorate, according to their report.

They also reported that the third individual arrested, identified as “A.M.S.Y.,” is convicted of theft and is wanted by the Aden Governorate police.

Ma’rib police confirmed that the necessary legal procedures have been taken against the accused in preparation for referring them to the competent authorities to complete legal proceedings.
