Government Forces in Al-Mahrah Seize Weapons and Ammunition at Nishtun Checkpoint

The government’s “Nation’s Shield” (Dir’ Al-Watan) forces in Al-Mahrah Governorate (eastern Yemen) managed to seize a quantity of weapons and ammunition at Nishtun checkpoint early Thursday. This operation is part of ongoing security efforts to bolster stability and combat arms smuggling.
A security source explained that the seizure occurred during routine inspection procedures at the security point. A vehicle raised suspicion and was immediately searched, leading to the discovery of weapons and ammunition. The items were confiscated, and legal measures are being taken regarding the incident.
The command of the Nation’s Shield forces in Al-Mahrah confirmed that this operation is part of its national mission to maintain security, protect citizens, and prevent the proliferation of weapons. The command emphasized that it will continue to perform its duties with firmness and responsibility, in coordination with various relevant security agencies, to enhance safety and stability in the governorate.
The force command praised the efforts of the field commanders at Nishtun checkpoint, represented by the Port Security Commander, First Lieutenant Abdulqader Walid Al-Sulaimi, and the Nishtun Checkpoint Commander, Mahfouz Ali bin Ja’ra, commending their role in consolidating security and stability in Al-Mahrah Governorate.
