Al-Khanbashi Emphasizes a Federal State that Guarantees Political and Economic Rights for Hadramawt

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramawt, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, met this evening in Mukalla with the Sheikhs of tribes, along with several other Hadramawt tribal leaders. The meeting was attended by the First Undersecretary of the Governorate, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish al-Aliyi.

During the meeting, Al-Khanbashi stressed the importance of unifying the “Hadrami stance” during this sensitive stage. He asserted that Hadramawt stands before a genuine opportunity to transition toward a better reality, which requires concerted efforts, moving past differences, and avoiding any practices that could return the governorate to the square of instability it suffered from in the past.

He noted that the governorate is set to witness the implementation of major development projects that will contribute to improving various sectors, with direct support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He praised the recently announced grants, which represent a significant boost for the development path. He also touched upon ongoing preparations for the “Southern-Southern Dialogue,” emphasizing that efforts are continuous to ensure its success in unifying visions and securing the legitimate rights of Hadramawt.

Al-Khanbashi reaffirmed his commitment to the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference as the foundation for building a multi-region federal state that guarantees the political and economic rights of Hadramawt, stressing that any future dialogue must reflect the aspirations and will of the governorate’s people.

The Governor addressed the exceptional circumstances recently witnessed in Hadramawt, asserting that acts of looting and sabotage are completely foreign to the values of Hadrami society. He called for standing united against any attempts to drag the governorate toward chaos and to work with a spirit of collective responsibility to maintain its security and stability.

For their part, the Sheikhs of the Nouh tribes—in a speech delivered by Abdullah Muhammad bin Muhammad Barashid (Abu Al-Zai)—offered their congratulations to Al-Khanbashi on assuming his duties. They praised Hadramawt’s history and national role, expressing pride in the sacrifices made by its people for the sake of the governorate’s security.

The tribes commended the role of Saudi Arabia in supporting security and the return of stability, stemming from the historical and social ties it shares with Hadramawt, affirming that Hadramawt’s security is an integral part of the Kingdom’s security.

Nouh tribes renewed their confidence in the governorate’s leadership, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Arab Coalition. They expressed their aspirations for achieving security, development, and the consolidation of justice, ensuring that Hadrami decision-making stems from the will of its people, whether within the framework of a federal state or any formula chosen by the people of Hadramawt in the future.
