President Al-Alimi Assures British Ambassador State is Proceeding to Unify Forces Under Defense and Interior Ministries

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), affirmed that the formation of the Supreme Military Committee represents a professional, inclusive framework for unifying all military and security forces and formations, reorganizing them under the umbrella of the Ministries of Defense and Interior.
Al-Alimi emphasized that this step sends a clear message that the state is moving forward with its national priorities to protect the internal front and end the Houthi coup, whether through peace or war.
During his meeting on Sunday with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Abda Sharif, the Chairman of the PLC pointed to the success of the process of taking over military camps in the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra, and the continued normalization of conditions in the temporary capital, Aden, and other provinces. He stressed that these measures aim to restrict arms to the state and represent a foundational step toward unifying military and security decision-making on an institutional basis.
In a related context, His Excellency described the decision of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to dissolve itself as a courageous and responsible decision that spared the country from internal conflict. He affirmed the commitment to handling the consequences of this decision with a “statesman’s mindset,” preventing a recurrence of past mistakes based on exclusion and marginalization, and ensuring that political life is not militarized.
Regarding bilateral relations, the meeting discussed ways to enhance the partnership between Yemen and Britain in the fields of counter-terrorism, securing international navigation, and supporting state institutions. The President praised the British role in supporting legitimacy, as well as the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in de-escalation, sponsoring the Southern Dialogue, and providing economic and developmental support.
The President concluded the meeting by emphasizing that the priorities for the coming phase focus on the return of the government and institutions to operate from within the country, improving services, and strengthening the independence of the judiciary. He called on the international community to support this path and deter any attempts to obstruct the political process in the country.
