During a Protest… Mothers of Abductees in Aden Hand Over List of Names of the Forcibly Disappeared to Authorities

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:
Mothers of the forcibly disappeared in Aden’s prisons held a protest today in front of the governorate building in Al-Mualla, demanding the disclosure of the fate of those forcibly disappeared for nearly ten years and calling for their release.
In the protest organized by the Abductees’ Mothers Association, participants held up photos of the forcibly disappeared, demanding an end to abductions and the disclosure of the fate of those held in secret prisons for a decade.
Representatives of the Association met with the Undersecretary of Aden Governorate for Security and Defense Affairs, Brigadier General Abdulaziz al-Mansouri. They presented a list of the names of the forcibly disappeared documented by the association, emphasizing the need for serious action by relevant authorities to reveal their whereabouts and release them to end their suffering and reunite them with their loved ones.
The Association handed Undersecretary al-Mansouri the demands of the families, which stressed the necessity of including the file of abductees and the forcibly disappeared among the top priorities of the current stage and within the ongoing Southern Dialogue Conference. They also called for an end to secret prisons as a necessary step toward political and security stability.
Furthermore, the Association stated that the secret prisons established over the past years—which were under the control of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)—represented one of the most dangerous forms of human rights violations.
The Association emphasized the legal and moral responsibility now resting on the state, following its consolidation of political and security control over the city of Aden, to take practical and urgent steps to resolve the file of the abductees, provide justice for victims and their families, punish the perpetrators, and ensure these crimes are not repeated in the future.
