Release of STC and Security Support Prisoners in Hadramawt; “Al-Khanbashi” Calls for Opening a New Page

The Hadramawt Tribal Alliance announced today the release of prisoners from the so-called “Security Support” forces and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces, who were captured during clashes along the Hadramawt coast over the past two months.

The Alliance confirmed the release of soldiers from the dissolved STC forces and what was known as the Security Support forces (previously led by Abu Ali al-Hadrami). These individuals were captured during confrontations in the Wadi Khard areas of the Ash-Shihr district and the Ghayl Bin Yamin district, north and east of Mukalla.

The Governor of Hadramawt, Salem al-Khanbashi, and the head of the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, met separately with a number of the released prisoners. They emphasized the importance of opening a new page of tolerance and coexistence, and overcoming past differences with a spirit of national responsibility.

Governor al-Khanbashi stressed the necessity of unifying ranks and prioritizing the public interest. He called on young people not to get involved in projects or actions that undermine the security and stability of Hadramawt, affirming that the local authority pays great attention to the file of community reconciliation and seeks to address the effects of the previous stage through the spirit of law and tolerance to enhance social peace.

For their part, the released prisoners expressed their gratitude to the Governor of Hadramawt and the leadership of the Alliance. They affirmed their commitment to working in the best interest of the governorate, contributing to the maintenance of its security and stability, and rejecting anything that would harm Hadramawt or its people.
