Explosion Outside Al-Islah Party Headquarters in Taiz Kills Civilians, Including Children Returning from Exam

TAIZ – Two people were killed and nine others injured, including children and women, after an explosive device detonated on Thursday outside the headquarters of the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Al-Islah) in the city of Taiz, according to a preliminary tally reported by local sources.

Among the dead is a seven-year-old child. A number of the victims were struck while returning home from their schools after taking mid-year exams, amplifying the shock within the local community.

Available information lists the victims’ names as follows: Aisha Ammar Hamed Ghalib (14 years old), Mohammed Majeed Hamed Ali (30), Badee’ Hassan Saeed Al-Sufyani (32), Mary Arif Abdullah (13), Khadija Ali Qaid (23), Mariam Awad Juma’i Hassan (60), Aed Abdulrahman Saeed (23), Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Farhan (44), Hashim Ahmed Mohammed Abdullah Al-Shahari (7 years old), and one unidentified fatality. The condition of Ibrahim Al-Shara’i remains unconfirmed.

Medical authorities transferred the injured to nearby hospitals to receive emergency treatment. Meanwhile, security forces have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the explosion.

Local sources called for expediting the identification of the perpetrators and enhancing security measures around civilian gathering points, especially those involving children, amid growing security risks threatening the stability of the city.
