Al-Alimi Reaffirms Full State Support for Local Authorities in Hadramout

Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, held a phone call on Thursday with Hadramout Governor Salem Al-Khanbashi to review the security and living conditions in the governorate and receive updates on efforts to normalize the situation.

During the call, Al-Alimi was briefed by the governor on progress in implementing plans to strengthen security and stability with the support of Saudi Arabia. He stressed the state’s full backing of the local authority’s leadership in Hadramout and its empowerment to protect public interests and consolidate the presence of state institutions.

Al-Alimi underscored Hadramout’s importance in the national equation, describing it as a cornerstone of the national recovery plan and a model for coexistence and social peace. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to safeguarding the governorate’s security, preserving the unity of its social fabric, and respecting its distinct character.

He also reiterated the state’s firm rejection of any measures that exceed constitutional and legal authorities, emphasizing adherence to the Riyadh Agreement and the Declaration on the Transfer of Power as key references for the transitional phase.

The Presidential Leadership Council chairman praised the ongoing efforts of the Saudi- and UAE-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy to restore normalcy in the eastern governorates, highlighting their role in maintaining national consensus and avoiding steps that could worsen the suffering of Yemenis or harm their interests.

Al-Alimi further renewed his directives to document all human rights violations linked to unilateral measures in Hadramout, launch comprehensive investigations to ensure accountability, and provide assistance to those affected.

In closing, President Al-Alimi commended the awareness and wisdom of the people of Hadramout and their unity around the local authority’s leadership, affirming that the governorate will remain a pillar of the state, development, the rule of law, and security and stability.
