STC Raises Separatist Flag in Al-Mahra, Threatening Stability of Eastern Yemen Governorate

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Tensions have escalated in Yemen’s eastern Al-Mahra Governorate after local sources reported that forces of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) have taken control of several security posts and government facilities in the border region.
According to the sources, the STC militias raised the separatist flag over these government sites, replacing the national flag of Yemen—a move described by local circles as inflammatory and provocative.
These actions have sparked concern and rejection among residents of Al-Mahra, who oppose the STC’s control and its attempts to impose a new reality that does not align with the aspirations of the governorate’s people.
