The Yemeni government held a meeting on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Shayea Mohsen Al-Zindani, in the temporary capital, Aden, to review and adjust government response plans to counter the repercussions of the Houthi group’s continued attacks on commercial ships and international navigation in the Red Sea.
The meeting discussed the assessment of economic, humanitarian, and service conditions, and reviewed plans to deal with potential scenarios to ensure market stability, the flow of imports, and the securing of a strategic stock of basic commodities, food, and fuel.
The meeting reviewed the work plan of the Government Crisis Management Committee, aimed at raising the readiness of state institutions to face any potential escalation or crisis, and mitigating its security, political, economic, and service impacts.
During the meeting, Al-Zindani appreciated the financial and economic support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing continued coordination with the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy” and international partners to protect the security of international navigation and restore state institutions.
The government pointed out that the Houthis’ targeting of international navigation deepens the economic and humanitarian burdens on the Yemeni people and further complicates the chances for peace and stability in the country and the region.
