Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed Al-Ashwal praised the efforts of the Marib office in regulating prices, ensuring the quality and safety of products and goods, and taking action against violators.
During his visit on Wednesday, Minister Al-Ashwal reviewed the workflow at the ministry’s branch in Marib governorate and the oversight efforts being carried out in local markets, in addition to discussing the key challenges facing the office and possible solutions.
He emphasized the need to intensify field inspection campaigns across markets and traders’ warehouses on a regular basis, to monitor their adherence to reducing commodity prices in line with the improvement of the local currency. He also stressed the importance of requiring merchants, craftsmen, and service providers to conduct their transactions in Yemeni riyals, with legal measures taken against violators.
The minister conducted an unannounced field visit to a central market in Marib city to inspect the prices of essential food and consumer goods.
Al-Ashwal underscored the necessity of joint efforts between the ministry and the local authorities in the governorate to monitor prices, address market irregularities, and take firm legal action against violators, price manipulators, and commodity hoarders.
He was accompanied during the visit by the minister’s adviser, Mohammed Al-Juma’i, and several department directors from Marib Industry Office.
