“Yemen Shabab” Condemns Incitement by Taiz Local Authority Against the Channel and Its Staff

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemen Shabab Media Network stated today that the local authority in Taiz governorate (southwest Yemen) has adopted what the network considers “dangerous behavior” by inciting against its satellite channel and press crews.

In a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Yemen Monitor, the network called on the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) to condemn the official statement issued by Taiz authorities on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, which contained hostile and inflammatory language against the channel.

“Yemen Shabab” clarified that the official statement from the Governor of Taiz came in response to the publication of an analytical report regarding the findings of the International Panel of Experts concerning the governorate. The report highlighted threats and risks associated with practices attributed to the Governor, Nabil Shamsan.

The network explained that the author of the report had contacted media officials in the governorate to obtain an official comment regarding the Panel of Experts’ findings, but everyone refused to respond. This refusal was noted in the published material.

The network pointed out that the local authority did not exercise its right of reply or clarification. Instead, it resorted to addressing the National Security Bureau, the Political Security Organization, and Counter-Terrorism agencies to investigate what the channel had published.

Yemen Shabab considered the summoning of security agencies to be an “Explicit incitement and a dangerous trend targeting freedom of expression and journalistic work, constituting a direct threat to the channel’s staff.”

The network urged the Journalists Syndicate and the IFJ to condemn what it described as an abuse of power by the Governor and to take steps to protect media freedom and journalists in Yemen.

Yesterday, the local authority in Taiz issued a statement calling on the National Security, Political Security, Counter-Terrorism agencies, the Panel of Experts on Yemen, and the Ministry of Information to open an immediate investigation into the “fabrications and lies” published by the channel.

The authority expressed regret regarding the content broadcast by Yemen Shabab satellite channel in its midday bulletin on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, under the headline: “(Experts’ Report Places Taiz Governor Under Suspicion of Obstructing Army Resources and Services).”

The authority affirmed that this news is “completely baseless” and described the allegation as “false.”
