Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A human rights report revealed that over ten thousand children have been killed or injured by the Houthi group during the period from January 1, 2015, to November 20, 2025.
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms published a human rights report documenting violations committed by the Houthis against children on the occasion of World Children’s Day. The report documented 28,005 incidents of violations and crimes against children over ten years.
Killings and injuries topped the Houthis’ violations against children. The report documented the killing of 4,595 children and the injury of approximately 6,317 during the reporting period. The remaining violations were distributed among forced recruitment, enforced disappearance, and torture.
The Network documented the deaths of approximately 6,728 recruited children who were given funerals and whose deaths were officially announced. It was noted that the Houthis use various methods for recruitment, most notably brainwashing, enticements, and exploitation of economic conditions.
The report documented 180 cases of child abduction, 137 cases of enforced disappearance, and about 117 children subjected to physical and psychological torture in the militias’ prisons, of whom 9 children died due to torture. 53 cases of rape were also documented.
The report also indicated that the Houthi group caused the displacement of 43,965 children, deprived 4.5 million of education as a result of converting educational facilities into military barracks, and pushed over 3 million children into the labor market.
