A Yemeni Army Brigade Commander Survives Assassination Attempt; Two of His Guards Killed

Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive:
A senior commander in the Yemeni army survived an assassination attempt — his second in less than a month — while two of his escorts were killed when an explosive device detonated as his vehicle was passing along the desert road between Marib and Al-Jawf (eastern Yemen).
A military source told Yemen Monitor that Brigadier General Abdu Abdullah Al-Makhlafi, commander of the 22nd Brigade in the Yemeni army, survived the assassination attempt, while two of his escorts were killed and four others were wounded.
The source added that an explosive device targeted his vehicle on the desert road linking Marib and Al-Jawf, marking the second attempt to target him in less than a month.
The source reported that the slain soldiers were Abdulraqib Al-Humayri and Abdulsalam Al-Qaisi, while four others sustained varying injuries and were transferred to a hospital in Marib for treatment.
Brigadier General Al-Makhlafi had previously survived an assassination attempt on October 27, when armed men opened fire on his vehicle in the Al-Ruwayk area bordering Hadramawt province, injuring him and killing one of his escorts.
