Prime Minister Forms High-Level Committee to Investigate Al-Arqoub Incident

Yemeni Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brik issued a decision today to form a high-level committee to investigate the Al-Arqoub incident in Abyan. The committee includes the Ministers of Transport, Health, Public Works, the Governor of Abyan, and the head of the Road Maintenance Fund.
According to the decision, the committee is tasked with investigating the incident and submitting a report within seven days. The Road Maintenance Fund was also assigned to conduct an urgent technical inspection of the Al-Arqoub road and other dangerous mountain roads.
The Ministry of Public Health and Population was instructed to enhance the emergency and ambulance systems in mountainous areas and along high-traffic road routes.
On the humanitarian side, the Prime Minister’s decision emphasized the urgent disbursement of financial and humanitarian assistance to the families of the deceased and those injured in the accident, through a mechanism to be established by the Ministry of Finance.
The accident, involving the overturning of a large passenger bus on the Al-Arqoub road in Abyan governorate, had previously resulted in 17 fatalities and 7 injuries, according to the Ministry of Interior.
