Angry Protests Continue in Aden Over Power Outages and Delayed Salaries

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:
The city of Aden witnessed a wave of angry public protests on Thursday morning that spread across all its districts, in response to the collapse of basic services, particularly the power outage that has lasted more than 15 consecutive hours, in addition to the ongoing salary payment delays for government employees—now reaching six months.
A Yemen Monitor correspondent reported that spontaneous demonstrations began early in the morning, as angry citizens took to the streets in marches across several neighborhoods.
In Sheikh Othman District, protesters blocked a number of main roads and set tires on fire, disrupting traffic movement.
The crisis stems from the deterioration of public services in the city, with a complete power outage caused by the exhaustion of the last fuel supplies needed to operate the main power generation plants.
The six-month delay in paying salaries and employee dues has further exacerbated public anger.
Residents of Aden are facing dire living conditions, as the collapse of the electricity service coincides with the decline of other essential public services, pushing citizens to the streets to voice their rejection of the worsening situation and to demand that authorities find urgent solutions to the escalating crises.
