Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Shabwa governorate witnessed the arrival of a smuggler’s boat carrying 120 African migrants to the Arqa coast in Rudum district, marking a new wave of illegal migration into the country.
Local police confirmed that all those on board were Ethiopian nationals, and all of them were men.
A security source in Shabwa police stated that the relevant authorities are taking all necessary measures to address this recurring phenomenon, with the aim of maintaining security and stability in the governorate and preventing security risks that could result from infiltration attempts.
The source added that local authorities are working to monitor the coasts and strengthen surveillance to prevent further illegal entries, in light of the ongoing challenges posed by continuous waves of migration to the region.
These developments come amid the persistence of irregular migration through Yemeni shores, which poses both security and humanitarian challenges for local authorities.
