Sudden Floods Hit Yemen’s West Coast, Causing Significant Damage to Families and Agricultural Crops

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Unexpected floods have swept through vast areas on Yemen’s west coast, causing severe damage to homes and farms, according to a statement by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Thursday.
The organization reported that, with support from the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), it quickly intervened to provide urgent humanitarian aid and protection services to those affected by the floods.
The IOM explained that the assistance included the construction of gabion walls at displacement sites to reduce the risk of future floods and protect populations most vulnerable to environmental crises.
These efforts are part of an ongoing response to the environmental challenges facing Yemen, where floods contribute to the worsening of the already difficult humanitarian situation experienced by residents in affected areas.
