Prominent local sources have reported a tragic incident that has shaken the Yahar district of Lahij Governorate. A well-known medical professional met a horrific end inside a security facility.
Sources identified the victim as Abdul Hafeez Al-Baihany, who had worked in the medical field for many years and held an important position at Yahar Hospital.
Local activists circulated news that Al-Baihany had been detained for three days in a prison belonging to the Fifth Brigade in Tuban district before his body was found.
Initial information suggests that the arrest stemmed from the brigade’s pursuit of the victim’s nephew in a criminal case, leading them to detain Al-Baihany as a hostage.
The contradictory accounts regarding the circumstances of the death have sparked widespread controversy, with the forces claiming the man committed suicide, while his family and local sources assert that he was tortured to death.
Residents of the area have appealed to the authorities to immediately investigate the incident and bring those involved to justice, especially given the victim was known for his good character and long service to the community.
