Hadramout Tribal Alliance Announces Formation of First Protection Forces Brigade

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The head of the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, Amr bin Habrish, issued Decision No. (2) for the year 2025 today, Sunday. Article one of the decision stipulated the formation of the “First Brigade” of the Hadramout Protection Forces.

According to a statement from the alliance, Article two of the decision assigned the following leaders to take on the command duties of the brigade: Brigadier General Al-Juwaid Salmin Ali Barashid as Commander of the Brigade, and Brigadier General Aman Khamis Aman Al-Habshi as Chief of Staff of the Brigade.

Yesterday, Saturday, a leader in the alliance and head of the media committee for the self-rule document drafting team, Sabri bin Makhashin, stated that “the Hadramout Protection Forces are the alliance’s forces, and they have prior experience in establishing the Hadrami Elite with coalition countries. The alliance is a state project, not a project for militias, individuals, or groups.”

He added in statements reported by “Al-Quds Al-Arabi” newspaper: “The Hadramout Protection Forces are not outside state institutions. The alliance has experience in establishing the Hadramout Elite forces, and then the alliance followed up by issuing presidential decrees to formalize these forces. There is no doubt that this is to prevent any militias with other agendas or from other regions from imposing their control over decision-making and wealth in Hadramout.”

It’s worth noting that the alliance previously announced that it does not recognize the head of the Presidential Leadership Council or its members, and they do not welcome their visit to Hadramout unless the people of the governorate are empowered with their legitimate rights and fair demands as partners in power and wealth.
