Yemeni Government Officially Launches E-Visa System with US and International Support

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Today, the Immigration, Passports, and Naturalization Authority in the interim capital of Aden officially launched an e-visa system. This initiative is part of a project implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with funding from the US. The new system allows individuals wishing to enter Yemen to apply through the official platform: yemenevisa.org.

Major General Abduljabbar Salem, Undersecretary of the Authority, affirmed that the system represents a significant step in digital transformation, covering approximately 85% of the automation process for the Authority’s services, including passports, nationality, border control, and residencies.

Salem also expressed appreciation for the facilities provided by the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by Saudi Arabia, during the process of transporting the project’s devices and equipment through the Kingdom’s airports until their arrival in Yemen and the successful completion of this project.

Salem also outlined the project’s objectives, foremost among them being the protection of national security, combating forgery and counterfeiting, reducing the phenomenon of organized terrorism, facilitating visa application procedures for Arabs and foreigners, and automatically storing and preserving data accurately and securely. This helps protect data confidentiality and ensures easy and quick retrieval. The project also aims to enhance human and technical capabilities and provide an administrative and financial oversight system for visas in Yemen.
