Baghdad Arab Summit Renews Support for Yemeni Legitimacy and Calls for a Comprehensive Political Solution

In the final statement of the thirty-fourth Arab Summit held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Arab leaders renewed their firm support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, led by Rashad Al-Alimi, and their backing for the Yemeni government’s efforts to achieve national reconciliation among all components of the Yemeni people, in a way that achieves security and stability in the country.
The statement affirmed support for the UN and regional endeavors aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on internationally recognized references, represented by the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanisms, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Arab leaders stressed their full solidarity with Yemen in preserving its sovereignty and unity, and rejected all forms of interference in its internal affairs, emphasizing the importance of ending the state of war and division, finding solutions through internal dialogue, and providing the appropriate conditions for achieving sovereignty and prosperity.
Earlier today, the thirty-fourth summit of the League of Arab States began in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, amidst the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for 19 months, in light of an unprecedented exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis and continuous escalation.
