Israel Intercepts Missile Launched from Yemen

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

The Israeli military announced early Thursday morning that it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward Israeli territory. The incident prompted air raid sirens in several areas, including Tel Aviv and the vicinity of Ben Gurion Airport. As a precaution, air traffic at the airport was temporarily suspended but later resumed.

According to the Israeli military, the missile was intercepted outside Israeli airspace, and no direct casualties were reported. However, emergency services confirmed that several individuals sustained minor injuries due to crowding and panic as people rushed to nearby shelters.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions between Israel and Yemen’s Houthi movement, which recently declared its intention to target Israeli airports in retaliation for ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza.

In response to previous attacks originating from Yemen, Israel has launched a series of airstrikes targeting Houthi-controlled and civilian infrastructure sites, including the port of Hodeidah, cement factories, and Sana’a International Airport.

Israeli authorities have reiterated their commitment to defending national airspace and infrastructure against further threats.
