Governor of Shabwa Forms Investigation Committee into Ataq Events

The Governor of Shabwa and Chairman of the Security Committee, Awadh Mohammed bin Al-Wazir, issued a resolution to form an investigative committee to look into the circumstances surrounding the events at the governorate’s headquarters in the city of Ataq this morning.
The committee is chaired by the Governor’s Undersecretary, Ahmed Saleh al-Daghari, and includes the following members:
- Brigadier General Ali Saleh al-Kulaibi, Commander of the Shabwa Defense Forces.
- Brigadier General Abdullah Saleh Burman, Director General of State Security.
- Brigadier General Ahmed Nasser Lahwal, Deputy Director General of the Governorate Police.
- Colonel Abdulkarim Lamrouq, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department.
- Three representatives of the families of the victims and the injured.
According to local authority media, the committee is to begin its work immediately, conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine legal responsibilities and assess the damage caused to public and private property during the unrest.
Governor bin Al-Wazir stressed the necessity of the committee’s commitment to neutrality and professionalism in fact-finding and evidence collection, in accordance with legal procedures. The final results and recommendations will be submitted to pave the way for legal action against anyone proven to be involved, in an effort to maintain security and stability in the governorate.
