Aden Tightens Market Oversight as Ramadan Approaches

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Office of Industry and Trade in the temporary capital, Aden, announced the adoption of a new oversight plan targeting local markets. This initiative coincides with the approaching holy month of Ramadan and aims to protect consumers, regulate prices, and prevent monopolistic practices.

The plan was approved during an extensive meeting held by the Director of the Aden Office of Industry and Trade, Wasim al-Amri, with directors from various districts. The meeting reviewed implementation mechanisms and strategies for intensifying field campaigns to ensure merchants adhere to approved price lists.

Al-Amri emphasized the necessity of strengthening the supervisory role in the coming period and taking strict legal action against violators. He asserted that the office will firmly confront any attempts to hike prices or hoard goods—particularly basic food supplies—to alleviate the living burden on citizens during the holy month.
