Gunfire Directed at Container Ship Off Yemeni Coast, Boarding Attempted

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center reported on Monday a security incident off the southern coast of Yemen, after a container ship came under fire from gunmen aboard a small boat who attempted to board it.
The center stated in a report that the incident occurred approximately 14 nautical miles (26 kilometers) south of Yemen, where a container ship reported a small boat approaching it.
It added that the individuals on board the boat opened fire toward the ship and attempted to board it, without providing additional details regarding any potential damages or casualties.
The statement indicated that competent authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
The center called on ships transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity, amid ongoing security risks in some maritime corridors near the Yemeni coastline.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
