A Yemeni health official said on Sunday that 18 people have died from the dengue fever virus in areas under the control of the legitimate government during the past months of 2026.

The media official at the Health Office in Taiz Governorate, Tayseer al-Samai, explained that the number of registered dengue fever cases reached 4,819 in those areas during the same period.

Al-Samai added that Aden Governorate topped the list of governorates in terms of the number of deaths and infections, registering 12 deaths and 1,243 infections.

He pointed out that coastal Hadramawt came in second place, registering 3 deaths and 1,006 infections.

The official did not provide additional details regarding the remaining governorates or the measures taken to curb the spread of the disease.

Yemen frequently experiences outbreaks of dengue fever and mosquito-borne diseases amidst the deterioration of health and service conditions resulting from years of conflict.
