The Yemeni government reaffirmed on Sunday its commitment to national sovereignty and the state’s exclusive authority over the management of its airspace and airports, stressing that “humanitarian considerations must not serve as a pretext to undermine state sovereignty or bypass its legitimate institutions.”
The statement came during a Cabinet meeting held in the interim capital, Aden, chaired by Prime Minister Shaea Al-Zandani, where ministers reviewed the latest political, security, and public service developments across the country.
The Cabinet welcomed the initiative launched by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to resume flights between Sanaa and Amman in an effort to ease the suffering of Yemeni citizens. At the same time, it renewed its accusation that the Houthi group bears full responsibility for the continued escalation, undermining peace efforts, and obstructing humanitarian initiatives in pursuit of its coup agenda.
The government also condemned what it described as Iranian interference and attacks targeting Arab countries, reaffirming Yemen’s full solidarity with Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan in the measures they are taking to safeguard their security and stability.
The Cabinet approved the formation of the Higher Supervisory Committee to prepare the 2027–2029 Economic and Social Development Plan, chaired by the Prime Minister and comprising several ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank, and representatives from the private sector and civil society. The committee was established based on a proposal by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the attack targeting members of the Homeland Shield Forces (Dir’ Al-Watan) in the Ramah District of Hadramawt Governorate, which resulted in deaths and injuries. The Cabinet stated that such terrorist acts would not deter the government from pursuing those responsible and bringing them to justice.
Ministers also received briefings on the state of public services in Aden and other government-controlled governorates. Prime Minister Al-Zandani instructed ministries to intensify their efforts and strengthen market oversight to prevent the hoarding of goods, emphasizing that the performance of government ministries would be evaluated based on the tangible impact of their work on citizens’ daily lives.
The Cabinet further praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its longstanding support, highlighting its continued political, economic, developmental, and humanitarian assistance in strengthening the resilience of the Yemeni state.
