International Condemnation Following the Assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman al-Shaer in Aden

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen on Sunday condemned the assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman al-Shaer, director of Al-Nawras Private School, which took place yesterday in the city of Aden.
The Embassy’s statement linked the incitement of violence to assassination incidents, noting that resorting to violence in political discourse is “unacceptable.” The German Embassy warned against undermining international and local efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability in the country.
The statement renewed Germany’s position in support of the Yemeni government and people in facing current security and political challenges. In its statement, the Embassy expressed its sincere condolences to the victim’s family, emphasizing the need to open an urgent and immediate investigation into the circumstances of this crime to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and held accountable.
Additionally, the European Union Mission to Yemen strongly condemned the assassination. In a post on its “X” account, the mission called for an investigation into this crime and for the accountability of its perpetrators, affirming continued support for the Yemeni government’s work to promote stability in the country.
Educator Dr. Abdulrahman al-Shaer was assassinated yesterday in Aden while on his way to attend an innovation ceremony organized by the school he managed.
The assassination has met with widespread official and human rights condemnation. Activists have warned of a return of assassinations to Aden, which had witnessed noticeable security stability following the departure of the UAE and the dissolution of the Transitional Council and its military and security arms, which previously controlled the city and several southern governorates.
