Culture Director Injured in Armed Storming of Al-Dhalea Governor’s Office; Authority Vows “Deterrent Punishment” for Perpetrators

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The local authority in Al-Dhalea Governorate vowed on Sunday to pursue those involved in storming the Governor’s office, revealing that the Director of the Culture Office, Ali Mohsen Sinan, was injured in the incident.
In a statement obtained by “Yemen Monitor,” the local authority accused an individual named Raafat Ahmed Khalid of leading gunmen to storm the office of Governor Ahmed al-Qubba. The statement noted that the gunmen deployed around the building before the intrusion in a clear sign of escalation.
The statement emphasized that these actions are classified as crimes of “terrorism and thuggery” punishable by law, and that legal proceedings have already begun to track and monitor all participants and planners of this flagrant assault.
The local authority indicated that these “desperate attempts” aim to dissuade the leadership from continuing what it described as “cleansing the governorate of corruption and closing illegal levy collection points,” asserting that legal prosecution will also reach the inciting parties behind these chaotic movements.
Journalist Abdulraqib al-Hadyani shared specific details of the incident based on local testimonies, clarifying that Raafat Ali Khalid impersonates the Deputy Security Director of Al-Dhalea District. He noted that the dispute with the Governor was over funds from a levy collection point, prompting Khalid to mobilize gunmen, besiege the Governor’s office, and clash with the guards.
In response to the raid, the Tribal Council of the Bani Omar tribe in Al-Dhalea Governorate issued a statement condemning the assault on the Governor’s office. It characterized this “thuggish behavior” as a flagrant violation of state prestige and an obstruction of the tangible development efforts led by the Governor.
The Council affirmed its full support for the local authority, demanding that security and judicial agencies quickly arrest those involved and bring them to justice to receive their deterrent punishment, stressing that these acts of sabotage do not represent the people of Al-Dhalea or their values.
