Yemeni Coast Guard Seizes Two Boats Involved In Smuggling

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Yemeni Coast Guard Authority has seized two boats involved in smuggling.

The authority said that the initial investigation revealed the crews of the two boats were involved in human trafficking and smuggling prohibited items. The crews have been detained and referred to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures, according to the official website.

It explained that the two boats carried no official documents or legal registration, nor did they have any fishing nets, equipment, or fish on board. Instead, they were loaded with large quantities of fuel stored in containers, in clear violation of maritime laws and regulations.

The Yemeni Coast Guard confirmed it will continue carrying out its duties to protect territorial waters and combat all forms of smuggling and maritime crime. It also urged all fishermen across its three sectors (Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, Arabian Sea) to register their boats and obtain official documentation.
