Yemen Monitor / Abyan / Special:
The commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Abdul Qader Ali Al-Jaari, and six other members of the National Security forces (formerly the Security Belt) were killed today, Saturday, in a security incident in Abyan governorate (southern Yemen).
According to corroborating local sources speaking to “Yemen Monitor,” the incident occurred during a field mission. The circumstances of the attack and the party behind it remain unclear, amid a state of mobilization among security and military forces.
According to initial information, the attack directly targeted the force, resulting in the death of the commander and a number of his companions, along with injuries, before the victims were transported to a nearby medical facility. This comes amid accusations that Al-Qaeda in Abyan is behind the targeting of the brigade commander.
