Demining Teams Destroy Over 1,600 Landmines and Ammunition in Mukalla

MASAM project for demining in Yemen, affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), carried out a new disposal operation that included 1,681 landmines and unexploded ordnance in the city of Mukalla, Hadramawt Governorate, eastern Yemen, in cooperation with the Executive Center for Mine Action – Mukalla Branch.
According to a statement from the project’s media center, the materials disposed of included anti-personnel mines, shells, rockets, and various types of ammunition. Among these were 9 guided missiles, 12 anti-personnel mines, 17 hand grenades, 687 tank shells, 28 RPG rounds, in addition to dozens of detonators and 791 rounds of ammunition.
The project explained that this operation is the fifth in Mukalla since mid-January, as part of ongoing efforts to clear liberated areas of war remnants, including during the month of Ramadan.
It pointed out that the total amount destroyed in Mukalla since January 17 has risen to 11,487 items, including landmines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance, as part of efforts to reduce risks threatening civilians.
