Director General of Al-Wadeeah Land Port Reveals Major Transition Phase and Date for Moving to New Terminal

Yemen Monitor / Seiyun / Newsroom:
Amer Saeed Al-Say’ari, Director General of the Al-Wadeeah Land Port, confirmed that the crossing is undergoing a radical transformation toward comprehensive digitalization to overcome congestion challenges and develop commercial traffic between Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In an exclusive interview with Yemen Monitor, Al-Say’ari revealed the success of the electronic reservation system implemented a year ago in ending the phenomenon of overcrowding outside the port walls, which previously stretched for distances of up to 7 kilometers. He noted that the port has accommodated massive human flows reaching 2,000 cars per day, exceeding four times its previous capacity.
According to Al-Say’ari, the most prominent feature of the coming phase is the imminent announcement of the launch of the “Single Sovereign Window” to electronically link all regulatory and customs authorities, which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of anti-smuggling efforts by 80%.
Al-Say’ari set the date of 15 Dhu al-Qi’dah (May 2) as the deadline for moving to the new facilities, which will include independent lanes and dedicated gates for buses, trucks, and small cars to facilitate smooth flow.
He stated that Al-Wadeeah port generated customs revenues exceeding 133 billion Yemeni Riyals during the year 2025, reflecting operational discipline and growth in commercial movement.
Al-Say’ari concluded by praising the level of coordination with “brothers on the Saudi side,” describing it as “near-daily” and reaching a rate of 90%. He called on all travelers and transport companies to strictly adhere to the reservation systems to ensure the provision of the best services and facilitate the passage of humanitarian cases.
