Yemeni Presidential Council Orders Investigation into “Aden Events,” Vows to Hold Involved Parties Accountable

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council vowed to hold accountable those involved in the recent events witnessed in the temporary capital, Aden, viewing this as a commitment to a firm response against any attempt to disrupt national institutions. During its meeting today in Riyadh, the Council praised the high vigilance shown by the armed and security forces in protecting civilians and public and private property, and in safeguarding civil peace and public tranquility against attempts to use the street as a pressure tool to achieve illegitimate political goals.
The Council affirmed its full support for the government, enabling it to exercise its constitutional powers and move forward with the recovery plan and comprehensive reform program. This includes accelerating the preparation of the general budget draft, improving revenues, continuing anti-corruption efforts, enhancing transparency and accountability, and implementing service projects with a direct impact on citizens’ lives to alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militias.
The President and members of the Council listened to a report from Prime Minister Dr. Shaya al-Zindani regarding the general situation in the country and the initial indicators of the government’s work program for the current year, focusing on the service and security sectors and strengthening trust with regional and international partners. The Council expressed its high appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s approval of the request to host the Southern Dialogue Conference, considering it an advanced level in approaching the Southern Issue as a just cause requiring a fair settlement within the framework of the state and its guaranteeing references.
It warned against squandering this historical opportunity under the pressure of slogans or narrow calculations—in a reference to the dissolved Transitional Council—while renewing its praise for the generous Saudi support to improve conditions in liberated provinces and its pride in the firm strategic partnership between the two countries. The meeting also reviewed regional developments in light of the Iranian regime and its militias’ continued defiance of de-escalation efforts, affirming the state’s readiness to deter any potential threats in coordination with the Coalition to Support Legitimacy and the international community.
The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, and attended by council members Sultan al-Arada, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Salim al-Khanbashi, and via video link, Tariq Saleh and Mahmoud al-Subaihi, while member Othman Mujalli was absent with an excuse.
