Yemeni Network Documents Over 4,800 Houthi Violations in Al-Hudaidah During 2025

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms announced that Al-Hudaidah Governorate in western Yemen witnessed a total of 4,868 violations by the Houthi group during 2025. The network described the humanitarian situation in the governorate as a “closed environment” characterized by recurring patterns of severe abuses.

The report indicated that these violations ranged from killings and injuries caused by shelling and landmines to large-scale arrest campaigns involving enforced disappearances and torture. Additionally, the report cited the forced recruitment of children, the use of civilians as human shields, and the widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure.

According to the figures provided, the death toll reached 262 individuals, including women and children, while 225 injuries were recorded. Landmines also led to dozens of victims, both killed and wounded, amid frequent shelling targeting the districts of Hays, Al-Khokha, At Tuhayta, and Ad Durayhimi.

Furthermore, the report documented thousands of arrests, including hundreds of enforced disappearances and deaths within detention centers, in addition to the establishment of dozens of secret prisons. Regarding property, it noted hundreds of damaged homes along with raids, looting, and the bombing of private residences, bridges, and vehicles.

The Network called on the United Nations and the international community to increase pressure to halt these violations, impose sanctions on those involved, support demining programs, and work toward establishing an international database of victims to prepare for transitional justice. It warned that continued impunity worsens the suffering of civilians in Al-Hudaidah.
