First Anticipated Government Meeting in Aden Amid Escalating Rejection by the Dissolved Transitional Council

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni government news agency, Saba, reported that Prime Minister Shaye al-Zindani, who arrived in Aden today, will hold a series of meetings and sessions to monitor government performance and develop urgent solutions for priority service, economic, and security issues.
The official agency stated that Al-Zindani affirmed the government’s determination to fulfill its national responsibilities from within the country, working with a unified team spirit to confront economic, service, and security challenges. He praised the sincere fraternal support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across various fields.
In a related context, the website of the Southern Transitional Council (STC)—which has been declared dissolved—published that a meeting chaired by Secretary-General Wadah al-Halimi emphasized a rejection of any government session. According to the report, the meeting also declared a refusal to allow what it described as the “Northern presence” within the government and the Presidential Leadership Council.
The report on the STC’s official website further noted that the meeting concluded with several recommendations regarding the continuation of popular escalation until demands, described as the “demands of the people of the South,” are met.
It is worth noting that ministers of the new government have been arriving over the past few days. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior arrived today in anticipation of the government’s first internal meeting, amidst STC escalation and driven popular protests, representing a significant challenge.
