Taiz Announces Opening of the City’s Eastern Crossing to Travelers Throughout Ramadan

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Local and military authorities in the city of Taiz have announced their readiness to open the city’s eastern crossing to travelers around the clock throughout the month of Ramadan, in a move aimed at easing the effects of the siege and the severe congestion at the city’s entrances.
The commander of the eastern crossing, Major Ammar Mahioub, said during a press conference today that the decision comes in implementation of directives from the political and military leadership to facilitate citizens’ movement during the holy month.
Major Mahioub also called on the Houthis to lift the siege completely from the rest of the city’s crossings, stressing that freedom of movement for citizens is a constitutional and legal right that must be respected. He added that this step represents the beginning of alleviating residents’ suffering and improving mobility within the city.
