Fire Breaks Out on Cargo Ship at Socotra Port Amid Absence of Civil Defense

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A fire broke out on a wooden cargo ship at Socotra Port. The vessel had arrived from Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, in an incident that has caused significant alarm among port workers and local residents.
Port employees confirmed receiving an urgent distress call; however, the total absence of civil defense infrastructure at the port has prevented any attempt to control the blaze. Sources noted that the only available firefighting capabilities belong to the Emirati forces, who have reportedly not intervened or responded to the situation thus far for various reasons.
Local journalist Abdullah Budaihen stated, “The fire at the port is still ongoing at this moment,” expressing regret over the complete failure of local authorities to manage the disaster.
The situation was not limited to the port; a second fire broke out simultaneously at a mobile phone shop in the center of Hadibu. This coincidence has heightened tension and anxiety among citizens, who are now demanding that authorities intervene immediately and implement safety measures to protect lives and property.
As of now, no official statements have been released regarding the extent of the losses or any emergency measures being taken to bring the fires under control.
