Safer Refinery Announces Production Resumption Following Sudden Shutdown and Fuel Crisis in Marib

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Safer Refinery has resumed crude oil refining operations and production after a five-day hiatus that triggered a fuel derivative crisis in areas dependent on the facility, including Marib Governorate (Eastern Yemen).

According to Yemeni journalist Ali Owaidha, citing sources within the company, the refining process had been halted since last Sunday, February 8, due to a malfunction in the cooling system, which led to a complete cessation of fuel production.

Owaidha reported that a temporary repair was completed on Wednesday evening, February 11, allowing refining to restart. Partial production and the pumping of fuel derivatives are expected to resume starting tomorrow, Friday, February 13.

Sources revealed that the company had ordered the necessary spare parts for the cooling system from the manufacturer several months ago to facilitate a complete and permanent overhaul of the system.

Safer Refinery processes crude oil produced by the Safer Exploration and Production Operations Company, providing limited quantities of petrol, diesel, and other derivatives to meet the needs of Marib Governorate and several surrounding districts in neighboring provinces.
