Provided by Saudi Arabia: Emergency Fuel for Aden’s Power Plants Restarts Facilities Idle for Months

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The General Electricity Corporation of Aden announced today, Saturday, the arrival of an emergency shipment of diesel fuel, enabling the restart of several power generation plants that had been out of service for months.
In a post on its official account, the Corporation explained that restarting the idle plants was necessary to compensate for the deficit caused by the shutdown of the solar power plant by the operating company.
The Corporation praised the urgent intervention of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirming that this support came through direct follow-up from the Coalition leadership in Aden, the local authority, and the Oil Company. This support has contributed to increasing generating capacity and improving the stability of electricity services for the coming days.
The Corporation noted that, starting tomorrow, the process of transporting diesel and mazut (fuel oil) from the PetroMasila company will begin, pursuant to the agreement signed between the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) and the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. This ensures the continued operation of power plants in Aden and several provinces benefiting from the Saudi grant, following a months-long hiatus.
Last Thursday, the Emirati company (Online) operating the solar power plants in Aden and Shabwa abruptly shut down both plants by deactivating the operating code. The Ministry expressed its surprise at these actions, which occurred without prior coordination.
