Yemeni Presidential Council Vows to Pursue Perpetrators of Aden Attack, Describes It as Direct Targeting of the State

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council vowed to pursue the perpetrators of the attack that targeted the convoy of the commander of the Second Brigade of the Giants Forces, Brigadier General Hamdi Shukri, north of Aden. It emphasized that the operation represents a serious security escalation and a direct targeting of state institutions during a critical phase the country is undergoing.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the Council stated that the attack, which resulted in the death of five soldiers and the injury of three others while they were performing their duties, is part of repeated attempts to destabilize the security situation and undermine efforts aimed at unifying security and military decision-making, with support from the regional coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The statement noted that the state will not hesitate to pursue those involved in the operation, whether they are perpetrators, supporters, or financiers. It affirmed that the relevant authorities will take all legal measures against them and that the blood of the victims will remain “a trust on the shoulders of the state.”

The Presidential Leadership Council described the attack as part of an open war the state is waging against terrorism, warning of the growing activities of armed groups and smuggling networks that, according to the statement, seek to undermine the pillars of security and stability and weaken the state’s ability to enforce its sovereignty.

In a related context, the Council commended the efforts of the armed forces and security formations in confronting security threats, praising the sacrifices of their personnel and reaffirming its full support to enhance their capabilities and enable them to carry out their national duties.

It also praised the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen’s stability and preserving the cohesion of its institutions, considering that regional and international coordination is a fundamental element in confronting terrorism and protecting security in Yemen and the region.

The Council called on political forces and national components to overcome differences and align with the state during this phase, emphasizing that what happened in Aden does not target a specific party but rather the entirety of national security.

The statement concluded by urging citizens to remain vigilant and not be drawn into calls for incitement or chaos, stressing that security and military agencies will continue to carry out their tasks firmly and pursue terrorist cells to ensure public tranquility and reinforce the rule of law.
