Yemeni Presidential Council Approves Measures to Normalize Conditions, “Fill Vacancies,” and Return Government to the Interior

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) held a high-level meeting today, chaired by Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi. The meeting focused on recent national developments and the requirements for the upcoming phase across political, security, and administrative levels. The Council approved a series of decisions regarding the normalization of conditions, the return of the government to the country, and the filling of vacancies within the Council’s membership.
During the meeting—attended by Council members Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, and Othman Mujali—the Council discussed recent developments following the successful handover of military camps in the governorates of Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah, the temporary capital of Aden, and other liberated provinces. The Council praised the heroism of the armed forces and security apparatuses, noting their high level of discipline and professionalism in carrying out national duties.
The PLC highly valued the results of the productive meeting between the Council President, its members, and the Saudi Minister of Defense, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The Council endorsed sovereign decisions made to manage the current phase, most notably the formation of a Higher Military Committee under the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. This committee is tasked with completing the unification of the armed forces on national and professional bases to ensure that the state maintains a monopoly on the decisions of war and peace and to enhance readiness against threats, primarily the Iranian-backed Houthi threat.
Regarding the Southern Issue, the Council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to a fair resolution through a South-South dialogue scheduled to be held in Riyadh under the sponsorship of Saudi Arabia. This dialogue aims for comprehensive representation without exclusion or marginalization, returning decision-making power to the rightful stakeholders within the framework of the state and its sovereignty.
The Council praised the unified international stance supporting Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity and its rejection of any unilateral measures that undermine state institutions or threaten regional security.
The Council also reviewed reports on developments in several governorates, specifically the urgent humanitarian and service needs in the Socotra Archipelago, taking necessary measures in response.
The PLC emphasized the importance of accelerating the normalization of conditions in liberated governorates, the return of the government and all state institutions to operate from within Yemen, and taking immediate steps to provide reparations, care for the families of martyrs, treat the wounded, and strengthen the rule of law.
Finally, the Council issued several decisions related to filling vacancies in the Council’s membership and improving service and administrative performance to meet citizens’ aspirations. These steps aim to establish a new phase based on partnership and justice on the path to restoring state institutions and overturning the coup of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
